A Mosaic Legacy at Joey Gerard's Supper Club in Greendale, Wisconsin.
The two restroom murals in Taste of Home Restaurant were a joint effort between myself, Uihlein Architects and Roy Reiman. My concept was to create an impressionistic mosaic mural of a marsh scene. The materials used are unglazed porcelain, hand cut and patterned in the indirect method and set in large sections on site. Each room of the restaurant is modeled after one of the Reiman magazine publications. The restroom murals are specific to the space of the room. Both murals have a large section of wetland flora and fauna that is 5 x10 feet on the wall and approximately 5 by 6 feet in the largest area of the floors. The smaller areas of mosaic installation are amphibians and reptiles that are scattered throughout the floors in and out of stalls and around the public sinks. It is difficult to walk into these spaces and not be entirely engaged with the mosaic installation. These two mosaic murals exist today in the restaurant Joey Gerards / A Bartolotta Supper Club in Greendale, WI.
